Wonder in the Ordinary

Scripture Reading: Psalm 19:1-6

Reflection: Somewhere along the way, most of us trade wonder for competence. You get good at the Christian life — you know the verses, the routines, the right answers — and without meaning to, you stop being amazed. The psalmist looks up at a sky he'd seen a thousand times and still calls it a sermon: the heavens are declaring, pouring out speech, and there's no place on earth where their voice isn't heard. That kind of wonder isn't reserved for mountaintops or trips you'll never take. It's available in your own backyard, your own drive to work, your own ordinary Thursday. When was the last time something as simple as a sunrise or a clear night sky stopped you in your tracks and reminded you that the God who made all of that also knows your name? Ask Him today to loosen your grip on competence long enough to let you be amazed again.
