The Voice That Knows Your Name
Scripture Reading: John 10:3-5, 9-10
3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep recognize his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice. 5 They won’t follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don’t know his voice.”
9 Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures. 10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
Reflection: Jesus says His sheep know His voice. Not a stranger's voice, not the loud voices of your phone, your fears, or your schedule. His voice. Most of us expect something dramatic, but it usually arrives quietly: a nudge while you pray, a Bible verse that rings in your mind, a sermon that stays with you all week. The more time you spend near a shepherd, the more familiar His voice becomes. Sheep do not learn it in a crowd; they learn it by staying close. Today, notice how many voices compete for your attention throughout the day. Then choose one quiet place and one short stretch of time to simply listen. Read slowly. Pray honestly. Ask Jesus what He wants you to hear, and be ready to obey. He is not shouting from far away. He is calling you by name, patiently and kindly, right now, and He is worth hearing.
Application Question: Where have you sensed God speaking to you lately through prayer, His Word, worship, or a conversation, and what has He asked you to do about it?
