Know That You Know

Scripture Reading: John 10:25-29

25 Jesus replied, “I have already told you, and you don’t believe me. The proof is the work I do in my Father’s name. 26 But you don’t believe me because you are not my sheep. 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, 29 for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.

Reflection: Hoping and knowing are different things. You can hope a bridge will hold, but you only walk across it freely when you know. Jesus wants you to know with certainty that you have eternal life. Not guess. Not cross your fingers and hope. But know with certainty. That is not arrogance; it is simply trusting what God has promised. Think back to the moment you first asked Jesus to forgive you. Maybe you were seven, maybe seventy. Maybe there were tears, or maybe nothing dramatic happened at all. What matters is that you were there, and you turned to Him yourself. Someone else's prayers, even a parent's, cannot do that for you. If you can name that moment, give thanks for it today. If you cannot, do not hide from the question. Bring it honestly to Jesus. He is not hard to find, and He never turns away anyone who calls on Him today.

Application Question: If someone asked how you know you belong to Jesus, what would you honestly say, and what does your answer reveal about where your confidence rests?
