The Bigger Picture

Yesterday, I shared a part of Joseph’s story and how he was the favorite among his brothers. Their envy sparked a deep-seated hatred that ultimately led to a bad choice. But even though things looked bleak, God worked a miracle that no one anticipated! (Genesis 37:1-4)

Today, let’s learn more about seeing the bigger picture!

Scripture Reading: Romans 8:28

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”

Reflection:
Most of us pray from the middle of our own story. Bless me, help me, fix this. Nothing wrong with asking, but notice how small the frame gets. Paul pulls the camera back. He says God is working in everything, and He says it for a purpose bigger than your comfort.

That purpose has your name in it, but it isn’t only about you.

Think about Jacob’s messy household. Four mothers, eleven sons, jealousy everywhere. Yet God was quietly building the twelve tribes of Israel right in the middle of the chaos. He wasn’t surprised, and He wasn’t stuck.

This week, try looking at your circumstances the way you’d look at a sunrise, not asking what it does for you, but what it reveals. God is at work around you, in you, and through you right now. You may not see it yet. Trust Him anyway, and simply stay faithful.

Question: Where in your life right now are you most tempted to ask “What’s in it for me?” instead of “What is God doing here?”
