Humility over pride
“Gee, Brain, what are we going to do tonight?”
“The same thing we do every night, Pinky. Try to take over the world.”
These words premiered in September 1995 on the animated show “Pinky and the Brain.”
Throughout history, many have believed they were bigger than life itself! Those thoughts are dangerous.
God created and gifted you to honor Him. If you begin to think too highly of yourself, you’re heading down a dangerous path.
There is a story in Isaiah 37 about two kings. Hezekiah was facing an overwhelming threat from the most powerful army in the world. He didn’t panic or surrender. Instead, he sought God through prayer and humility.
Sennacherib was filled with pride and blasphemy. He exalted himself and convinced himself that he was invincible!
In Isaiah 37:36-37 we read,
“That night the angel of the Lord went out to the Assyrian camp and killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers. When the surviving Assyrians woke up the next morning, they found corpses everywhere. Then King Sennacherib of Assyria broke camp and returned to his own land. He went home to his capital of Nineveh and stayed there.”
After he arrived home, Sennacherib was killed by two of his own sons while worshiping false gods.
Don’t think too highly of yourself! The Brain never took over the world because he had a Pinky!
Learn to humble yourself before God by thanking and worshiping Him for everything.
