A neat thing happened tonight.  Ricky, Rhonda’s brother who lives in Arkansas, and his two grown kids are in town this weekend.  A lot of Rhonda’s family dropped by our house tonight.  Instead of cooking, we drove into town and picked up some subs from Subway.  The line was long, so I started talking with a dad and his two girls who were in line behind me.  Before I left, I told them about our egg hunt, gave them my card, and invited them.

On the way back to our house, we stopped to get some ice.  While putting it in the car, I heard a guy ask his wife if she had the $5.  She didn’t.  He was upset that he had lost it.  I told him that I would pay for his gas.  As we walked into the store, I told him about River Ridge and our “Pay It Forward” idea.  He seemed really interested.  When I got up to the counter, I told the clerk to put $10 on the pump.  The guy was speechless.  He told me it too much, but I told him that I had a $10 bill at my house from our “Pay It Forward” fund.  When he offered to pay me back, I told him to just help somebody else down the road when he could.

Here’s the neat thing…he looked at my card and asked me when River Ridge had church and where.  He told me he would come.  I hope he does.  Not to pay me back, but to experience the love and grace of Jesus Christ.  It’s cool to be a Christ-follower.
