Yesterday I drove past the scene of a recent train derailment in the heart of downtown Douglasville. The accident was over two weeks ago, and wreckage was still being cleaned up. At the time I didn’t think too much about it.

Last night I read these words, “I gave up all that inferior stuff so I could know Christ personally, experience his resurrection power, be a partner in his suffering, and go all the way with him to death itself” (Philippians 3:10, The Message). As I thought about those words, I was reminded of how easy it is to forget some basic things. It is easy to get derailed. Life can get in the way of experiencing life as God intended. When you get derailed, life gets messy. But, God can and will clean up the mess. Just return to the basics of Philippians 3:10. As you get back on track you will find the peace and joy you long for.
