The company that pays my bills right now (while I wait for my next ministry position) has a huge poster with these words: The Power of One. The idea behind it is teamwork . . . we can do more as team than we can on our own.

Since becoming a church planter I have discovered a sad reality. There are people in the traditional as well as the modern church who just don’t get it. While the methods of each are different, the goal of both should be the same . . . leading people who are far from God to become devoted followers of Jesus Christ. To put it another way, I could say the mission of the church is nothing more than evangelism and discipleship.

God uses both church cultures to accomplish his purpose. We are not in competition with each other. We complement each other. So, if you’re one of those who has been or is critical of the other, stop it! You are sinning.

Imagine what we could do in impacting our culture if we joined hands (in our unique styles) as one unitied church.
