Wow! David and I were having a conversation right along these lines today at lunch. I don’t see many people who “walk the talk.” The more structured the church goes, the more obstacles I see to authentic worship and being Jesus’ hands and feet. It becomes more about power and selfishness versus humbleness and selfLESSness.

Sam,

This is great!! Points out that our style of church can be just as rote and surface-level as traditional churches can be. David and I are looking for that church that has feeling and sincerity–as you so aptly pointed out many times, that is about the personal relationship with Jesus. It’s no secret, if you are a thinking person–and unfortunately I think a lot of people really aren’t–that contemporary church plants can be real dog-and-pony shows. We’ve seen those in our visits to all of the “contemporary” churches we can find around here.

We certainly miss River Ridge! Hopefully, we do have our search narrowed to a couple, one of which can become our new church home.

You DID help people find real life in Christ. Things haven’t been the same for me (in a very good way) since I found that River Ridge card in the mail over two years ago! [And I miss River Ridge so much ]

I’m sorry for all of the stress and strife you’re experiencing. I do admire your faith and am so glad you share your experiences with us. Often, you describe things that help me so much in my journey–helps me realize that I’m not the only one experiencing certain stresses, struggles and questions. Thank you, Sam!
