Bigger Than the Moment

This past Sunday I continued our study on Joseph. He was a faithful man who was treated unfairly. I asked this question: “How can you trust God when life isn't fair?” This week, I encourage you to slow down for a few minutes each day. Together we'll reflect on God's character, remember he is with us, and practice trusting him in the middle of it.

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4:17 (NLT)

“For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!”

Reflection:

Nobody has to teach you that life isn't fair. You have felt it in a diagnosis, a layoff, a rumor, a decision made far above your head that changed everything. Paul knew that feeling too, and notice what he does with it. He doesn't pretend the troubles are imaginary.

He calls them real, and then he calls them light and brief when set beside what God is building through them. It's a wider view.

When you're in the middle of a hard season, it feels endless, and you can only see the present chapter. God sees the whole story! Sunday's message reminded us that Joseph's pit, slavery, and prison were not the end of his story. And your hard season isn't the end of yours. This week, you're not asked to feel fine. You're asked to lift your eyes a little higher, and trust the One who sees the finish.

Application Question: What unfair situation are you carrying right now, and how might it look different if you set it beside what God is building through it?
