It’s been awhile.

Life got busy. And I stopped writing a weekday devotional thought.

In the past year my wife and I moved to Carrollton, GA. We wanted be closer to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church where I serve as pastor. I retired as a hospice chaplain in December to focus on the next chapter of my life.

The journey has been filled with new challenges and routines.

I have more time to prepare sermons and provide pastoral care to those in my church. I record a one minute devotional thought that’s played on the local radio stations in Carrollton. I have more time to spend with family and friends.

As I reflect on the past couple of years, I’m reminded of Philippians 4:8:

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

It seems that we can become so busy that we fail to reflect on the most important things … loving God and those around us.
