Ever walked into a room when the conversation suddenly stopped and they just looked at you? And for the next few seconds that seemed like hours, nothing but silence. Awkward.
You probably wondered what they were talking about? Was I the subject of their conversation? Do I have something on my face? Is there a stain on my pants? Why am I not included? Who or what are they talking about?
Solomon gave great advice on handling those situations in Ecclesiastes 7:21-22. He wrote, “Don’t pay attention to everything people say, or you may hear your servant cursing you, for you know that many times you yourself have cursed others.”
When those awkward moments happen, just smile and let it go. You’ve got more important stuff to worry about. And besides, gossip should be avoided at any cost. Don’t get sucked into idle chatter that only hurts others … and you.
Let it go!
