halloween kidsEarlier this week Rhonda picked up some candy for our neighborhood trick-or-treaters.  Tonight will be a lot of fun.

I remember going trick-or-treating when I was a kid.  Some of our costumes were home-made.  As I recall though, my mom bought us one most of the time.  Those plastic masks with the rubber bands were popular.  For a kid who wore glasses, it was weird wearing those things.  Sometimes my glasses fogged up from my breath.  It was hard to see.  I’d trip or fall into holes while running as fast I could to the next house.

Dexter was not a large town, but we got a lot of candy.  One house you had to hit early was the one where a HUGE bowl filled with candy was set out by the door. You kept grabbing handfuls until the lady behind the door yelled at you to stop.  I loved going to that house.

Of course, there were always a couple of places that gave away apples or other healthy things.  We didn’t go out to get that.  We wanted candy.  We wanted good candy.  And for the most part, we got it.  Halloween was a lot of fun for a kid.

Now that I’m all grown up, it’s my turn to return the favor.  We are giving away some good stuff tonight.  It’ll be a lot of fun.

And my wife thought of me when she stopped by the store.  She picked up a bag of peanut M & M’s and poured them into a jar.  I pick up a couple every time I walk by.  I walk by that jar a lot.  Halloween is fun.
