Your problems may seem overwhelming at times. When faced with health, financial, or relationship issues that are too big for you to fix, what do you do? When your dreams come crashing down around you and your hope has faded, where do you turn?

In times of desperation many people look to God for help. You may pray. You may read the Bible. Perhaps you attend church. And if you’re really distressed, you may put some money in the offering plate. Or, making a deal with God may seem like the best option for you.

Years ago King Aram had become so furious with the prophet Elisha that he planned a massive invasion on the city of Dothan just to capture him. With a great army of horses and chariots, the king’s army surrounded the city. At daybreak Elisha’s servant went outside and discovered that soldiers, horses, and chariots were everywhere. He was terrified!

It’s no wonder that you feel afraid for your future when it seems that the odds are against you. There is no reason to fear, though.

Elisha told his servant, “Don’t be afraid! For there are more on our side than on theirs!” The prophet then prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!” When the young man looked up he saw that the hills were filled with horses and chariots of fire. Then Elisha asked God to blind the invading army. God answered his prayer (click here to read the entire story)!

There is no need for you to feel fear or abandonment when the odds seem overwhelming. All you need to do is to look up. Rather than focusing on your perspective, you need God’s viewpoint. Just as Elisha trusted God to fight his battle for him, you need to trust Him to fight, and win, your spiritual battles for you.
