While driving on I-75 the other day, I saw a car tag with these letters: WWJDrive.

I thought it was funny. Oh, in case you’re wondering I don’t remember what kind of car the guy was driving. Nor do really care what kind of car Jesus would drive.

But, I got to thinking about the whole WWJD thing (what would Jesus do). I’ve talked to several people in the past few days about Christians and churches. It seems that there are some “mean” people who not only go to church but hold important positions of leadership or influence.

As I’ve listened to some stories about church life, I was reminded that I had a vision of planting a church where the people acted more like Jesus than unlike him. To put it another way, church members are growing in their love for Jesus, for each other, and those outside the church walls. The imperfect people in the church treat others the way they want to be treated.  Hmmm, that sounds like something Jesus might have said (Luke 6:31). Sadly, too many people let their opinions or agendas get in the way of real love.

Jesus said, “This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:12-13, NLT).

It seems that some church folks just need more friends in their church … and maybe they just need to DWJWD (do what Jesus would do).
